So we did it.
We completed NaNoWriMo for the fifth (wait, is that right?) year in a row. This year was particularly hard considering we are both in Ph D programs and our professors have decided that November would be the month to give us projects and papers, etc., etc. Also, there was this little holiday called Thanksgiving that interrupted the flow and Pam had workshops and conferences to present at and there was teaching to be done, essays to grade, a dog to take care of. Long story short (is this short?) it seemed like we weren’t going to complete NaNo this year. Especially since we switched our novel ideas one week into the NaNo process. That’s right, we were both lagging a little and realized we just weren’t feeling our initial ideas enough to meet the word count requirements needed each day. So, we did the switch-up. And we STILL got to the 50K mark. Let’s pause here and rejoice with Zac Efron for reaching the goal despite our setback.
Okay, now that that’s done. How are we REALLY going to celebrate?
By going to Five Guys of course! We already have it on our meal plan for two weekends from now (yes, we make a meal plan–the rest of you don’t??)
So, what’s your NaNo story? Did you win? What are you doing to reward yourself? If you didn’t make it or didn’t participate this year, are you gonna go for it next year? If so, here’s our suggestion: plan your novel ahead of time and whatever you do, try NOT to switch your novel in the first week (or at any point there after).
